CLINTON -- Rodella Pierce Batts, 90, died Wednesday at Mary Gran Nursing Center.

The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Odell Peterson and the Rev. James R. Weaver will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Batts was a native of Pender County and was the daughter of the late James E. and Della Hollingsworth Pierce and the widow of Robert Peele Batts. A former resident of 70 Cabbage Patch Road in Clinton, she retired as a nurses' assistant at Sampson Regional Medical Center and was a member of the Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter: Edith B. Raynor of Clinton; two sons: Gerald T. Batts of Dudley and Robert L. "Bobby" Batts of Suffolk, Va.; two sisters, Roxie P. Sholar of Wallace and Relva P. Reign of Wilmington, Del.; one brother: Russell L. Pierce of Wallace; and 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters: Eleanor B. Register and Evelyn B. Peterson

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Royal-Hall Funeral Home, and other times at Edith Raynor's residence at 306 Ridgeway Street.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 863 Boney Mill Road, Clinton, N.C., 28328.
