John Almont Day, 86, of Elm City, died Wednesday.
A memorial service will be held Friday evening at 6:30 in the chapel of Joyner's Funeral Home in Wilson. The Rev. Larry Letchworth will officiate.
Mr. Day is survived by two daughters, Lynanne Day Boyette of Wilson and Becky Day Baker of Macclesfield; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Toni Roberts of Sacramento, Calif.; two sons, Francis Day of Elm City and David Day of Bailey; and one brother Bobby Day of Lynn, Mass.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Thomas Day, and a son, Thomas Alphas Day.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the memorial service, and other times at 405 Anderson St., Elm City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
