WILTON HOLLOWELL

Mr. Wilton Clement Hollowell, 84, a resident of the Pines and formerly of 1506 E. Holly Street, died Monday of congestive heart failure.

Mr. Hollowell was born in Wayne County on January 2, 1922, to the late Herbert and Bertie Hollowell. He was preceded in death by Eleanor, his wife of 55 years, his brother, Earl "Speed" Hollowell, and by his sister, Eula Casey.

Wilton graduated from Goldsboro High School where he lettered in football, basketball, and swimming. He was once an avid water skier, golfer and fisherman. Wilton served in the United States Army during World War II in the Communication Corp. He retired from Southern Bell, as an outside plant engineer, in 1979 after 40 years of service. Wilton was a charter member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, a past state president of the Telephone Pioneers, Past Master of the Wayne Masonic Lodge #112 A.F.& A.M. and member and past president of the Golden "K" Kiwanis Club.

Wilton will be remembered for always helping and serving others. He will be missed by many.

Mr. Hollowell is survived by his son, David, and his wife, Lesli, of Asheville; a niece, Charlotte Casey, and her daughter, Emily, and son, Alex.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1608 E. Pine St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
