RALEIGH -- Leonard Braxton "Tommy" Thompson, 55, a certified plumber, died Tuesday at Rex Hospital following several years of sickness.

A native of Wayne County, he was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps.

Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Montlawn Memorial Park.

Surviving: his wife of 24 years, Lisa Shelton Thompson; mother, Virginia C. Thompson of Raleigh; sister, Carolyn Wadford and her husband, Emmett, of Cary; brother, Donnie R. Thompson and wife, Janice, of Youngsville and Ellis Shelton Thompson and his wife, Ann, of Clinton; nieces, Renee Atkinson and her husband, Tad, of Zebulon, Hope Chamblee and her husband, Lee, of Zebulon and Wanda Faircloth and her husband, Pete, of Roseboro; nine great nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Wanda Shelton of Knightdale; sister-in-law, Beth Little and her husband, Jimmy, of Apex; niece, Dale and her friend Chris and Morgan; and nephews Thomas and Stephen Little.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Leonard Bruce Thompson and his father-in-law, Neal Shelton.

The family will receive friends at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner, after the funeral service.

We loved him very much and he will be greatly missed.
