SYBIL B. SATTERFIELD

Sybil Lee Benton Satterfield, 88, of 900 Patetown Road, died Monday at Wake Medical Center.

Mrs.. Satterfield was born in Lenoir County on May 15, 1917, to the late Fred Benton and Laura Alphin Benton. She was married to the late William E. "Bill" Satterfield. She graduated from LaGrange High School. She was a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church and a charter member of the Stoney Creek Home Demonstration Club. A member of the Stoney Creek Club since 1960, Mrs. Satterfield established and chaired the Extension Homemakers Tour Committee for many years.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Jimmy Whitfield and Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange.

Mrs. Satterfield is survived by her children, W.L. Satterfield and wife Shirley of South Boston, Va., Betty Jean Gurley and husband David of Goldsboro, Benton Satterfield and wife Nancy of Goldsboro, Fred Satterfield and wife Linda of Wilson, Kenneth Satterfield and wife Kay of Goldsboro, Charles Satterfield and wife Margy of Goldsboro and Norwood Satterfield and wife Joyce of Pikeville; her brother, Harvey Benton of Citrus Heights, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, Teresa Gurley Shearin of Selma, David Edward Gurley of Charlotte, Laura Satterfield Rouse of Goldsboro, Kevin Satterfield of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Jeffrey Satterfield of Wilson, Scott Satterfield of Pikeville, Amy Satterfield Teachey of Goldsboro, Mary Satterfield Partin of Greensboro, Kathryn Satterfield of Carrboro, Nicki Thigpen of Pikeville and Christie Littleton of Goldsboro; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Dempsey Benton.

Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of Betty Jean and David Gurley, 209 Ashby Lane, Goldsboro.
