WARSAW -- Betty Wells Phillips Batts, 77, died Tuesday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston.

She was the daughter of the late Cecil Roberson Wells and Lyda Dixon Wells and was a member of Johnson Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Henry Lee Phillips Jr., and his wife, Mary Emma Frederick Phillips of Warsaw; one grandson, Jason Frederick Phillips and his wife, Bridgett Miller Phillips, of Warsaw; two great-grandchildren, Jason Blake Phillips and Cameron Miller Phillips of Warsaw; one sister, Marie Wells McGowan, and her husband, Dewitt McGowan, of Wallace; one brother, Charles C. Wells, and his wife, Carolyn Wells, of Wilmington; and a very special friend, Cora Jane Bostic of Warsaw.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Johnson Baptist Church. The Rev. Farrell Miller and Dr. Louis Hill will officiate. Burial will be in the Devotional Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Marshall Phillips, Alan Phillips, David Phillips, Paul Phillips Graham Phillips Jr. and John Phillips.

Friends and relatives will be received at the home of Harry and Mary Emma Phillips, 322 Johnson Church Road, Warsaw.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harrell's Christian Academy, P.O. Box 88, Harrells, N.C., 28444.
