MOUNT OLIVE -- M. Ellis Weeks, 84, died Tuesday night at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
He was the retired postmaster with the Mount Olive Post Office and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Olive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond A. and Dewey Jones Weeks; a daughter, Carolyn W. Kalamajka; and brothers, R. A. Weeks, William Weeks and Earl Weeks.
Survivors include his wife, Eula Hymel Weeks of the home; a daughter, Sharon W. Igoe of Greenville; two sons, Martin Ellis Weeks Jr. of Mount Olive and Richard Weeks of Mont Clair, Va.; a brother, Ralph Weeks of Wilmington; seven grandchildren, Ryan Weeks, Brad Weeks, Jonathan Weeks, Martin Ellis Weeks III, Brandy Weeks, Scott Igoe and Stephen Igoe; and a great-grandchild, Mikie Sistrunck.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the First United Methodist Church of Mount Olive with Dr. Dennis Draper officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at the residence at 214 E. John Street in Mount Olive.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Carolyn Weeks Kalamajka Memorial Scholarship Fund, with checks made payable to ECC Foundation, 2009 W. Wilson St., Tarboro, N.C., 27886; or to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 420, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
