ANNIE PHILLIPS
GRIFTON -- Annie Price Phillips, 75, of 3795 Saw Mill Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at her residence.
She retired from Roses Stores after 42 years of service, after which she returned and worked part-time for several years. Until the time she got sick she was a very active member of Bethel Christian Church of Grifton of which she was a choir member for many years. She also served as Sunday school teacher, a deacon, an elder, chairman of the church board and served on the building committee for the new fellowship hall. In October of 2004 she was honored by the church for the great deeds she had accomplished in the church.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 9, 2006, at 7 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Kinston with the Rev. Buddy Turner officiating. Interment will be on Friday at Grifton Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ormond Phillips, her parents, Charles "Ike" and Ceclia P. Price, and an infant brother.
She is survived by two sons, Linwood R. Price and wife, Linda, of Seven Springs, N.C., and Jason Phillips and wife, Candi, of Grifton, N.C.;, three sisters, Maxine Barwick of Seven Springs, N.C., Elsie Moye of Mount Olive, N.C., and Carol Ham and husband, M. Lee, of Kinston, N.C.; three grandchildren, Jeremy Price of Seven Springs, N.C., and Chelsie and Rebecca Phillips of Grifton
The family will receive friends following the service tonight, and at other times at the home, 3795 Saw Mill Road.
