Edith Wright Cooke died Friday, Dec. 23, 2006, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla.

A native of Liverpool, England, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Wright and Edith Wright Heron. She lived in Goldsboro for 28 years and retired after an 18-year career at O'Berry Center and Cherry Hospital. She later moved with her family to Georgia, where she attended the Ray City Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son-in-law and daughter, Mark and Reeva Cooke Reid of Ray City; her son, Auburn Cooke Jr. of Goldsboro; her granddaughter, Alicia Reid Barfield, and husband, Tony, and granddaughter Sierra Reid, all of Ray City, Ga. She is also survived by her brother, Tom Wright, of Liverpool, England, as well as a many extended family members and friends.

A memorial service was held Sunday, Jan. 22, at Ray City Methodist Church. A private burial was held Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Holland Family Cemetery.
