Michael Eugene Britt Jr., 42, of 207 Gray Avenue, Dudley, died unexpectedly on Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a long battle with health problems.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Purvis officiating. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Britt was a native of Wayne County and was the son of Michael Eugene Britt Sr. of Carolina Beach and Judy Walker Britt of Dudley. Mr. Britt had worked as a lab manager with ClearVue Opticians. He was an avid gardener, fisherman and NASCAR fan.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother and sisters, Olivia Lowry and husband Colin of Raleigh, Beecher Britt of Dudley and Kristen Bunn and husband Gary of Arizona; his grandparents, Ralph and Dora Mae Britt of Mount Olive and Sally Walker Johnson of Goldsboro; his aunts and uncles, Glenn Britt and Betty Britt of Mount Olive, James Walker of Goldsboro, Donald Walker of Seattle, Wash., and Steven Walker of Pikeville, as well as his beloved pets, Sam, Ralph and Pete.

Mr. Britt was preceded in death by his grandfather, J. D. Walker.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Memorials, Honor Program, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio, 44720; or the Wayne County Animal Control (New Animal Shelter), P. O. Box 227, Goldsboro, N.C., 27533.

The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his grandparents, Ralph and Dora Mae Britt 3182 Dobbersville Road, Mount Olive.
