MOUNT OLIVE -- Julia Turner Wells Best, 86, died Friday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Born in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Lila Brock Turner. She was the widow of Cecil W. Wells and Boyce F. Best and was a member of Rones Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a retired beautician, having been owner and operator of Center Beauty Shop. A long-time resident of West Pollock St., Mount Olive, in recent years she had resided at Glen Care Retirement Center, and more recently at SunBridge Care Center, both in Mount Olive.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William H. Turner, Ira "Buddy" Turner and Albert Turner Jr.

She is survived by three nephews, W. Carroll Turner and wife, Sharon, Thomas M. "Tommy" Turner and wife, Pam, and David Eugene "Gene" Turner and wife, Kathy, all of Mount Olive; a niece, Jacquelyn "Jackie" T. Arthur and husband, Leon, of Mount Olive; several great-nieces and great-nephews; three sisters-in-law, Edna Ruth C. Turner, Lucille L. Turner, and Louise E. Turner, all of Mount Olive.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. today from the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home. Christopher Turner will conduct the service. Entombment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. Carroll Turner, 604 N. Center St., Mount Olive.
