EVANGELIA SAKAS

Evangelia Fafoulas Sakas, 97, died Wednesday morning at the Brian Center of Goldsboro, where she resided during the last six years, receiving care and love.

She was born Dec. 13, 1908, to the late Christos and Polyxrni Fafoulas of Karditsa, Greece.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Frangiska Tsioutsios and husband, Arthur Gregory Sakas.

Ms. Sakas is survived by her son, Gregory Arthur Sakas of Goldsboro; a sister, Ourania Raftopoulou of Kaditsa, Greece; brothers, Konstantinos Fafoulas of Kaditsa, Greece, and Elefteros Fafoulas of Athens, Greece; and a loving granddog, Christina Maria Sakas of Goldsboro.

Ms. Sakas will be layed to rest in her birthplace, Karditsa, Greece. The family will receive friends at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home Monday from 7 until 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Soup Kitchen, St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 1527, Wilson, N.C., 27894.
