KENANSVILLE -- Charles Benson Guthrie Jr., 78, died unexpectedly on Tuesday at the emergency room at Duplin General Hospital.
He was the son of the late Charles Benson and Elery Lee Penney Guthrie of Burlington. He retired as a lab technician with Emory University in Georgia.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Grady Guthrie of the home; one son, Charles B. Guthrie II of Georgia; a stepson, Tommy Grady of Kenansville; one daughter, Ann Ella Guthrie Gordon and husband, Rick, of Georgia; two stepdaughters, Carolyn Grady Price and Cathy Grady Best of Kenansville; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, under the direction of Community Funeral Home.
