HICKORY -- Edwin Everette Wright, 68, of Hickory, died Thursday in Burke County.
Born December 16, 1937 in Burke County, he was the son of Everette Baxter Wright and Tessie Brittain Wright.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 48 of Hickory.
He was employed in the electrical maintenance department with General Electric in Hickory and retired after 40 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Paige Wright and son, Edwin Eugene Wright.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Robert Wright and wife, Renelle of Marion and Terry Wright and wife, Mary of Morganton; one daughter, Angela Wright and husband, Kevin of Goldsboro; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Moss and husband, Coite, Peggy Crotts and husband, A.C., and Hazel Ouzts and husband, Dennis; and a brother, Kenneth Wright and wife, Linda.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Wilkes Grove Baptist Church, in George Hilderbran. The Rev. G. Ray Raymer will officiate.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Legion Post 48, c/o Ralph Adcock, 1483 17th Street Drive, N.E., Hickory, N.C., 28601.
