PRINCETON -- Mary Parnell Shallington, 81, died Saturday.
The funeral was held on Monday night at 7 at Casey Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Pollock and the Rev. William Wallace officiated. Committal was at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Princeton Cemetery.
Mrs. Shallington was born in Johnston County. She was the daughter of the late Dock and Ellen Davis Parnell and the widow of Wiley Franklin Shallington.
Her survivors include two daughters, Mary Ruth Roberts and Margaret Lavon Wellons of Princeton; three sons, Wiley Franklin Shallington of Kenly, Thurman Eldridge Shallington of Middlesex and James Alvin Shallington of Princeton; four sisters, Martha Ellen Bass of Fremont, Gloria Talton of Princeton, Rodie Iona Bailey of Pikeville and Gladys Irene Summerlin of Fremont; and 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Kathleen Shallington and Ethel Mae Taylor.
The family received friends at the funeral home prior to and following the service on Monday night, and other times at the residence at 787 Bug Shop Road.
