REV. ARTIS POWELL

The Rev. Artis Powell, 54, 3298 Wayne Memorial Dr., died Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
He was the son of Verna Powell and the late Amos Powell.
He was a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and did further studies at Shaw Divinity School. He taught Shaw Divinity School extension classes.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Bear Creek Headquarters with the Rev. Ezekiel Sutton officiating. Burial will be in the Powell Cemetery of Garland.
He is survived by his mother, Verna Powell of the home; five brothers, Amos Powell Jr., Carlos Powell, Calvin Powell and Michael Powell of Goldsboro and Marion Powell of Dudley; and a sister, Berniice Vance of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Arrangements are being handled by Rhodes Funeral Home.
