MARY POWELL

WARSAW -- Mary Helen Fields Powell, 81, died Thursday at Glencare of Warsaw.

She was the daughter of the late Wilbert Fields and Mary Worrell Fields of Johnston County and was a member of Warsaw Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen Fields and Roland Fields; and one sister, Elva Fields Jones.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Adin A. Powell of Warsaw; children, Adin Ashley Powell III and wife, Julie Bellamy Powell of Carolina Beach, Kathryn Powell Wrenn and husband, William Lethco Wrenn III of Warsaw; grandchildren, Nicole Powell Young and husband, Bruce Young, Ryan Ashley Powell and wife, Erin Powell, William L. Wrenn IV, and Matthew Kevin P. Wrenn; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert C. Fields of Rocky Mount, Dr. W. O. Fields of Four Oaks; and sister, Gertrude Fields Edgerton of Selma.

A graveside service was held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Devotional Gardens, Warsaw, with Russ Evans officiating. Music was provided by Claudia Hollingsworth.

The family received friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
