FREMONT -- Dorothy Lee Forehand Jackson, 79, formerly of Davis Mill Road, died Wednesday at Pitt County Memorial Hospital of Greenville.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at Faro Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 3616 Big Daddy's Road of Fremont with the Rev. Joe Strouse and Dr. Don Sauls officiating. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery of Fremont.

She was born in Wayne County Oct. 13, 1926, to the late Ernest Forehand and Estelle Sorrell Forehand. She was a member of Faro Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and active in the ladies auxiliary. She recently attended Blackjack Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church of Greenville. She was retired from Berry Corp. of Goldsboro.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by her husband, Dennis Jackson; three sons, Gerald Jackson and wife, Judith, of Wilson, Jimmy Jackson and wife, Sarah, of Fayetteville, and Kenneth Jackson and wife, Kimberly, of Greenville; a daughter, Dianne Hooks and husband, Martin, of Goldsboro; two brothers, Earl Forehand and wife, Carol, of Kinston and Paul Forehand and wife, Ruth, of Chesapeake, Va.; a sister, Carol Smith and husband, Carl, of Jacksonville, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, David Jackson, Terri Hill, Julie Schultz, Greg Jackson, Susan Jackson, Eric Hooks, Shannon Horton and Megan, Jayden, Kendall and Kristen Jackson; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Keith Jackson, and a brother, Ralph Forehand.

The family will receive friends and relatives following the service Saturday evening in the church fellowship hall.

Arrangements are being handled by Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home of Fremont.
