DR. CHRISTINE WHITTED

Dr. Christine Whitted, affectionately known as "Love," of Goldsboro, died Sunday, December 11, 2005, at her residence.

Dr. Whitted was the daughter of the late Earl Whitted Sr. and Mable Rue Whitted. Her sisters, Estelle W. Curley and Rachel B. Abbott preceded her in death. She was an educator in the New York City Public School System for more than 28 years. She graduated from Dillard High School and received a bachelor's degree from Shaw University and completed her master's and doctorate degrees at Columbia University.

On Thursday, December 15, 2005, the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. at the First African Baptist Church, 803 Harris Street, Goldsboro. The funeral will follow at noon. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Goldsboro.

Dr. Whitted is survived by daughters, LaVerne W. Rudder (Charles) and Shannon W. Simmons (William); grandchildren, Marvin E. Grice (Velkys), Kumani J. Simmons (Ernestine), Aminah A. Pollock (Stevie) and Carla A. Rudder; great-grandchildren, Torry Evans, Meelek Grice, Melvin Grice and Amirah Pollock; her siblings, Dorothy W. Hardy, Elizabeth W. Hobbs, Ernestine W. Wooten (John), Bernice W. Webster, Earl Whitted Jr., Rose W. Dublin, Eunice W. Hudson (Holland) and Ruth W. Britt (Eddie); several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are being handled by Hamilton Funeral Chapel, Goldsboro.
