Elton "Curley" Underhill, 87, of Kennedy Drive, died at a local hospital in Portsmouth Friday.

A native of Goldsboro, he was the son of the late MacDonald Underhill and Elma Thompson. He retired from Shop #31 supply department at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Cradock Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Underhill is survived by his wife, Frances P. Underhill; two sons, Kenneth R. Underhill of Virginia Beach, Va., and David Underhill of Portsmouth, Va.; a step-son, Gerald Underhill of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, 5201 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, Va. The Rev. Richard Livengood will officiate. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk, Va.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 4 until 5 p.m.
