Ida Stevens

SPRING HOPE -- Ida Faye Sanderson Stevens, age 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, died at her home on Wednesday, November 30, 2005.

Faye was born on July 4, 1917, in Burgaw, N.C., to the late Richard and Della Mae Sanderson. Faye graduated from Campbell College, where she met her wonderful husband of 60 years, Rex Stevens, then graduated from East Carolina College in 1939 and started her career teaching and retired after 27 years.

Faye was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Spring Hope.

She is survived by a loving daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Vernon Potter, a beloved grandson, Brett Barker and his fiancee, Stella Sutton; a loving sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Dail Robinson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Josephine Stevens, and brother-in-law, Johnnie Howell. She had several nieces and nephews, Ed Bowen, David, Danny and Sara Sanderson, Ricky Price, Boddy and John Crawford, Jay and Treva Howell, Becky Brobbelaar and Bob Stevens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Della Mae LeGevin, Margarite Bowen and Elsie Price; a brother, Richard Sanderson; and a son-in-law, Moses Barker.

Faye had some wonderful caregivers during the last few months, Kelly Harris, Christy Horrell, June O'Connell, Joyce Baker and Joann Mitchell.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2005, at 11 a.m., followed by the service at 12 noon at Spring Hope Funeral Home. Interment will be at Oak Dale Cemetery, Spring Hope.

Flowers are accepted or a memorial contribution may be made to First Baptist Church, Spring Hope, or Hospices.

BILLY K. SUTTON

Died Nov. 29, 2005

Billy K. Sutton, 35, 0f 1312 Sevens Mill Road, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by one daughter, Sawyer Sutton of Kinston; his father and stepmother, Leonard E. and Hattie Sutton of Kinston; his stepfather, Reynold Corbin of South Carolina; three sisters, Ida Sutton and Belinda Corbin of South Carolina and Loretta Sutton of New Jersey; and four brothers, Bobby Sutton of New Jersey, Anthony Sutton and Leonard Sutton Jr. of Kinston and Mark Corbin of South Carolina.

The funeral will be held by the graveside on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Sutton Family Cemetery in LaGrange. The Rev. Jasper Koonce will conduct the service.

The viewing will be today from 4 until 8 p.m. at Swinson Funeral Service in Kinston.
