Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Ernest Willard "George" Washington, 81, died Wednesday at the Brian Center.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held Monday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery.

Mr. Washington was born in Harlem, Georgia on January 13, 1924 to the late Estee and Ruth Washington. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant with 31 years of service. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth DeMaria Washington; three daughters, Lori Washington of Carrboro, Susan Fahey Martin of Chapel Hill and Donna Fahey Artis and husband, Don of Woodbridge, Va.,; and two grandchildren, Paul Martin and Adam Artis.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha W. Moore.

Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
