MARY R. HOWELL

Mary Rouse Howell, age 81, passed away at her daughter's home on Monday.

Born in Greene County, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Emma Taylor Rouse. She was the wife of the late William "Adolph" Howell for 61 years and was a member of Goldsboro Gospel Chapel since 1957.

The funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Milton Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

She is survived her three daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Jim McLaren of Danville, Calif., Patricia and Wayne Brunkhurst of Saugerties, N.Y., and Sheila and Jeff Myers of Kenly, N.C.; two sisters, Ruby Vernon of Goldsboro, N.C., and Vernell Kearney of LaGrange, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alene Turnage Yelverton and Dorothy Smith Daniels.

Family members request that memorial gifts be directed to the American Lung Association or Country Side Assisted Living Recreation Fund, P.O. Box 335, Pikeville, N.C. 27863.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home in Goldsboro and at other times at the home of her daughter, Sheila Myers.
