Mary Rouse Howell, 81, of Kenly, died Monday.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Milton Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
A native of Greene County, Mrs. Howell was married to the late William "Adolf" Howell for 61 years and was the daughter of the late Joe and Emma Taylor Rouse. She had been a member of Goldsboro Gospel Church since 1957.
She is survived her three daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Jim McLaren of Danville, Calif., Patricia and Wayne Brunkhurst of Saugerties, N.Y., and Shelia and Jeff Myers of Kenly; two sisters, Ruby Vernon of Goldsboro and Vernell Kearney of LaGrange; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alene Turnage Yelverton and Dorothy Smith Daniels.
The family requests that donations in Mrs. Howell's memory be directed to the American Lung Association.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home in Goldsboro, and at other times at the home of Shelia Myers.
