Vera Mae High Thomas, 90, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. The Rev. Steve McLain, the Rev. Mike McDonald and the Rev. Mike Lee will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas was born in Anson County. She was the daughter of the late Junius K. and Effie Bailey High and was the widow of Joseph Thomas. She was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church and was retired from Anson county School System.

Her survivors include two sons, Ray Thomas of Goldsboro and Robert Thomas of Kinston; two daughters, Nancy McNeil of Goldsboro and Irma Thomas of Albemarle; one brother, Alvin High of Ansonville; and nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Ansonville. The Reverends Steve McLain, Mike McDonald and Mike Lee will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, c/o Joyce Meachum, 2139 Stanback Ferry Ice Plant Road, Wadesboro, N.C., 28170.
