JACK SCOTT

MOUNT OLIVE -- Oliver J. "Jack" Scott, 80, of 592 Rones Chapel Road, died Monday afternoon at SunBridge Care Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Clark Barfield officiating. The committal service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.

Mr. Scott was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired farm equipment repairman. He was a member of Rones Chapel United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars -- Mount Olive Post No. 9959, American Legion -- Mount Olive Post No. 103, and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and being a repairman.

Survivors include his wife, Mavis Sheppard Scott of the home; a daughter, Carolyn S. Whitley of Wilson; two sons, Oliver Jack Scott Jr. and his wife, Sharon of La Grange, and Walter Ellis Scott of Mount Olive; a sister, Nellie S. Cox of Mount Olive; five grandchildren, Alan Whitley, Susan Whitley Joyner, Pamela Jane Scott, Matthew Ryan Scott, and Joseph Alan Scott; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew Scott Joyner and Andrew Thomas Joyner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben W. Scott and Hattie Outlaw Scott, and two sisters, Anna Mae Scott Grady and Lucille Scott Grady.

Flowers are welcome, or memorial gifts may be made to Rones Chapel Church, 138 Garner's Chapel Road, Mount Olive.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service on Wednesday night, and other times they will be at the residence.
