ROME, Ga. -- Dan Gore, 68, 220 Ravenwood Drive, died Saturday morning at his residence.

Mr. Gore was born in Duplin County on Aug. 15, 1937, to the late William Henry and Maggie McGowen Gore.

Mr. Gore retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years, and later retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 15 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Pollard Gore, to whom he was married Dec. 19, 1979; one son, William Henry (Will) Gore of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; one adopted daughter; three stepdaughters; one brother, Diamond Gore of Goldsboro; three sisters, Ezzie Davis, Mary Elizabeth Peele, both of Goldsboro, and Rudy Kornegay of Camden, N.J.; and nine grandchildren.

A private funeral Mass will be held Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father James Miceli officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Memorial Garden. Pallbearers will be Lincoln Jones, Vincent Greene, Thomas Hull, Frank Pollard, and Austin Moss.
