The funeral for Joe Louis Washington, 70, was held today at 11 a.m. at George H. Weldon Funeral Home Chapel in New York. Burial was at Rosedale Cemetery in Linden, N.Y.
Mr. Washington was a former resident of LaGrange. He died last Friday at North General Hospital in New York.
He is survived by his wife, Annie L. Washington; two daughters, Delphine Brown and Reaby Gilchrist of Kinston; two sons, James Waters of Kinston and Jerry Gray of Brooklyn; four sisters, Annie Mae Gray of LaGrange, Louise Sutton of Kinston, Arlena Harrison of Boston and Georgia Lewis of Goldsboro; one brother Walter Washington of New York; and 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
