JESSIE ARTIS

Jessie Gray Artis, 95, brother of Larry Artis of Goldsboro and Eddie Artis of Fremont, died Saturday in Pennsylvania.
A native of Wilson County, Mr. Artis was the son of the late John E. Artis and Maggie A. Clay Artis and the widower of Lalia J. Ward Artis.
In addition to his two brothers, he is survived by six sons, Joseph Artis of Philadelphia, Pa., Leslie Artis of Dumfries, Va., Douglas Artis, Ronald Artis and Chester Artis, all of Coatesville, Pa., and Poindexter Artis of Silver Spring, Md.; two daughters, Rosa Lee Peterkin of Wilson and Sandra Howard of Downingtown, Pa.; five sisters, Mary McCoy, Mamie Artis, Carrie Lee Newsome, Maggie Diamond and Avris White, all of Wilson; and 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Hutchinson Memorial Church, 825 Chestnut St., Coatesville, Pa. Interment will be in New Evergreen Cemetery in Coatesville.
