WARSAW -- William Oliver "OJ" Jones, 58, of 4102 Randall Parkway, Wilmington, formerly of Warsaw, died Saturday at the UNC Burn Center in Chapel Hill.

Mr. Jones was born in New Hanover County to the late James and Cleora Williams Jones. He graduated from Douglass High School, continued his education at A&T University and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and was a captain in the U.S. Army. He was employed at Oxidental for 25 years and for the past 10 years had worked at Southern State Chemical Company in Wilmington.

He was a member of First Baptist Church Warsaw and the funeral will be held there on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rev. David Franklin will officiate. Interment will follow in the Martin Cemetery.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Jones of the home; two sons, Byron Oliver Jones of Dawsonville, Ga., and Marcus Eugene Jones of Wilmington, N.C.; one brother, James Edward Jones of Philadelphia, Pa.; one sister, Regina Jones of Warsaw; and two grandchildren.

There will be no public viewing.

Rhodes Funeral Home in Warsaw is serving the family.
