The funeral for Mary Best Sykes, 89, of 1405 Poplar St., will be conducted Friday at noon at the First African Baptist Church, 803 Harris St. The Rev. Louis Leigh will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Sykes died Monday at Wilson Medical Center in Wilson.
She was a native of Johnston County and was the daughter of the late Matthew and Daisy Hamilton Best.
Her survivors include one daughter, Vera E. Jones of Laurinburg; one sister, Margaret Best of Goldsboro; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The viewing hours will be from 3 until 7 at Hamilton Funeral Chapel of Goldsboro.
