James Franklin Casey, 81, of 156 Blueberry Road, died peacefully Saturday at his home after a courageous fight with Melanoma Cancer.

A native of Wayne County, he was the son of the late Luby Randolph Casey and Florence Martin Casey. Mr. Casey was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a previous nurseryman at Goldsboro Nursery and a retired Physics Professor, with 27 years of service, at Wayne Community College.

A celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday November 1, 2005, at Goldsboro Friends Meeting with Willie Frye and David Brindle officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Casey is survived by his sons, Stephen Casey and wife, Melanie of Raleigh and Kevin Casey and wife, Sherry of Cary; his grandchildren, Joshua Casey, Morgan Casey, Bennett Casey and Paige Casey; his brother, Martin Casey and wife, Rose of Goldsboro; and his sister, Jean Becton of Goldsboro.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie and his son, Michael.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C., 27834, or to the Community Home Care and Hospice, 1201 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home on Monday, October 31, 2005 (today) from 7 until 9 p.m. and in the church fellowship hall following the service. All other times they will be at his residence.
