Francis E. "Buck" Taylor, 78, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2005.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel.

Born June 25, 1927, in Winston-Salem, N.C., Buck was a graduate of Roxboro High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1945 during World War II. Following the war, he returned to Goldsboro, N.C. For the next 25 years he worked with Belk's Department Stores in North Carolina and in Texas.

However, the past 20 years were the most enjoyable of his career, working with fellow employees and customers while employed by East Carolina Auto-Truck Center in Greenville. Buck was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Buck was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Yates and Rose Aldridge Taylor; two sisters, Emile Satterfield and Catherine Thompson; and a brother, Elze Lee Taylor.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Shirley Holley Taylor; a son, Russ Taylor and daughter-in-law, Jeanne Turnage Taylor, of Greenville; a daughter, Myra Markham and son-in-law, Rex Markham, of Goldsboro; two grandchildren, Lindsay and Will Taylor of Greenville; a sister, Margaret Williams of Winston-Salem; a brother-in-law, Oscar Satterfield of Beaufort, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Edith Prater of Pueblo, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
