Died Oct. 27, 2005

Deryl Lee "Dickie" Lamm, 60, of Persimmon Circle near Clayton, died Thursday evening at Duke University Medical Center.

Born in Durham County on Feb. 23, 1945, he was the son of Viola Stroud Lamm of Smithfield and the late Percy Lee Lamm. Dickie was a member of West Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Smithfield.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. today in West Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Smithfield. The Rev. Jason Hurt will officiate. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens in Selma.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Portia J. Lamm; a daughter, Darlene Crabtree of Clayton; sisters, Delores Bonham of Goldsboro and Theresa Gibble of Smithfield; and three grandchildren.

The family received friends Saturday evening at Parrish Funeral Home, Selma, from 7 until 9. At other times, they will receive friends at 2017 Twin Acres Road, near Clayton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brian Tumor Center at Duke University Medical Center, 512 Mangum St., Suite 400, Durham, N.C., 27701.
