DONALD SHUEY

DUDLEY -- Ret. Sr. Msgt. Donald Eugene Shuey, 85, passed away in his home at Sleepy Creek on Sunday.

Don had struggled with several health problems his last few years with the same cheerful good nature he had maintained all his life. After a distinguished career of 30 years in the Air Force, including campaigns in North Africa and Europe during WWII, and after 11 years working in Wayne County Social Services, Don retired to his lakeside home. He continued to do volunteer work at the Air Base Clinic for another 10 years. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Temple in Tokyo, Japan, and the Goldsboro Masonic Lodge #634.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jane Shuey; a daughter Mardie of Goldsboro; sons, Michael of Raleigh and Kevin of Montgomery, AL; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church. The Rev. Hunter Preston will officiate. Private inurnment will be held prior to the service.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the memorial service.

In addition to flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to New Hope United Methodist Church, 200 E. New Hope Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home & Crematory of Goldsboro is serving the family.
