CHARLOTTE SYKES

Charlotte Whitfield Sykes, 74, of 198 Oak Circle Drive, died Monday morning at Wayne Memoria Hospital.
A graveside funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Danny Smith officiating.
Mrs. Sykes was born in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late Carl Jackson Whitfield and Fannie Bell Whitfield. She was the widow of Jack Edward Sykes and was a member of St. John's Free Will Baptist Church near Goldsboro.
She is survived by five sons, David Ray Hill, Laney Carl "L.C." Hill and his wife, Joanie, Michael Wayne Hill and his wife, Sally, Danny Herbert Hill, and Joseph Lynn Hill, all of Goldsboro; a sister, Lois W. Pitts of Mount Olive; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Carl Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive is handling the funeral arrangements.
