William Smith Eason, 76, died Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. The Rev. T. C. West and the Rev. Virgil Whitehurst will officiate. Entombment, with Masonic rites, will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

A native of Duplin County, Mr. Eason was the son of the late Gatsey Smith and Johnny Eason and was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He owned and operated Wm. Eason Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and also Eason Dealer Service for many years.

Mr. Eason was a member of Beston United Methodist Church and sang with the Men of Madison, Madison Avenue Baptist Church. He was a member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge 634 A. F. & A.M. where he was a 32nd Degree Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Baker Eason; two sons, Terry Eason and wife Gray of Pikeville and Tony Eason and wife Dawn of Goldsboro; brother, J. L. Eason and wife Cora of Grantham; five grandchildren, Will Eason of Charleston, S. C., Chrissy Eason of Pikeville, Morgan Eason of Smithfield, Ramsye Eason and Peyton Eason of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Eason was preceded in death by his brother, Spicer Eason, and his sister, Etta Belle Mozingo.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, and at other times at Terry and Gray Eason's residence, 107 Wilderness Drive, at the Wayne County Wildlife Pond.
