Effie Ward Coley, 96, died Thursday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hooks Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Pikeville. The Rev. Johnnie Sherrod will officiate. Interment will be in Fremont Cemetery.
Mrs. Coley is survived by three daughters, Gladys Inez Rouse of Goldsboro, Arletha Lewis of Fremont and Eva Lee Smith of Pikeville; and 34 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren and 40 great-great-grandchildren.
The viewing hours will be from 2 until 8 p.m. on Monday at Lightner Memorial Funeral Home. At other times the family will receive friends at the home of Eva Smith, 160 Booker St., Pikeville.
