BETTIE McCULLEN

Bettie Mae Grady McCullen, 87, of Kirkwood Apartments, died Thursday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral was held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory. The Rev. Ira Williford officiated. Interment followed in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.

Mrs. McCullen was the daughter of the late Toby Grady and Bertie Potts Grady. An active church member, she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a charter member of United In Christ Church.

She is survived by one son, Gerald Daniels, and his wife, Debbie, of Goldsboro; one daughter, Annie Lou Lee and her husband, James Sherrill, of Benson; five grandchildren, James Keith Lee, Kelvin Lee and his wife, Misty, Kristy Lee, Jason Daniels and his wife, Teresa, and Leslie Daniels and his wife, Mandy; and two great-grandchildren, Alesha Lee and Dylan Daniels.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McCullen was preceded in death by her husband, James Lennie Daniels; two brothers, James Grady and Roscoe Grady; six sisters, Sarah Reaves, Minnie Daniels, Nellie Daniels, Leona Coley, Geneva Odom and Alene Baker.

The family received friends Friday evening from 7 until 8:30 at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory, and will receive friends other times at the home of Gerald and Debbie Daniels, 537 Providence Church Road, Goldsboro.
