Melba Grantham Campbell, 79, left this life on Monday morning at the Courtyards of the Berne Village in New Bern, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Wayne County on October 21, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Furman and Bessie Grantham. She was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with the Rev. Doug Johnson officiating.

Mrs. Campbell is survived by her husband, Warren Campbell of Goldsboro. A devoted mother and grandmother, she leaves behind three children, Judith of Minnesott Beach, Warren Campbell and wife, Mencie of Advance, and Michael Campbell of New Bern; her grandchildren, Ashley Campbell, Elizabeth Sink and Charles Park; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson Warren Sink and Holly Faith Campbell; and her sister, Maybelle Pipkin of Greensboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of New Bern, P.O. Drawer 12610, New Bern, N.C., 28651.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at 104 Tarklin Drive, Goldsboro.
