Died Sept. 9, 2005

Mary Daly Cahoon, 90, died Friday at Britthaven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

A native of Richlands, she spent most of her life in Goldsboro. She was the daughter of the late George Abner and Melissa Benton Daly.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Jack I. Daniels, S. Russell Montague and Rexford H. Cahoon.

She was a graduate of Goldsboro High School and a homemaker who loved her family and friends and enjoyed gardening, and sewing. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church.

Mrs. Cahoon is survived by three daughters, Lynda D. Hill and husband, Robert E. "Bob" Hill of Goldsboro, Betty D. Kidd and husband, Dr. Ralph V. Kidd of Charlotte, and Nelda M. Ogilvie and husband, Larry E. Ogilvie of Fayetteville; six grandchildren, Robert E. "Bobby" Hill Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, of Goldsboro, Daniel P. "Danny" Hill and wife, Mary of Helena, Ala., Catherine Lee "Cathy" Hasenzahl of Charlotte, Melissa E. "Missy" Mercer and husband, Gary, of Fayetteville, Christian L. Elskamp of Sanford, and Laura E. Powers and husband, John, of Sanford; two sisters-in-law, Lib Daly of New Bern and Mattie Daly of Clayton; one brother-in-law, Ben Duke of Ocean Isle; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at11 a.m. Monday at Wayne Memorial Park. The Rev. Norman Ard will officiate. The family will greet friends immediately following the service, and at other times, will receive friends at the residence of Lynda and Bob Hill, 705 S. Claiborne St.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by sisters Neta D. Ray, Hazel Ray Sharp, Marion D. Bell, Ruth D. Duke, and brothers Fulton B. Daly, George D. Daly and Donald I. "Bill" Daly.
