KENANSVILLE -- J.L. Rhodes, 65, of Bowdens Road, died Friday morning at home.

Born Sept. 16, 1939, to the late Mr. Charlie Ruffus Rhodes and wife, Smithie Margaret Ginn Rhodes, of Johnston County, Mr. Rhodes served 33 years with Duplin County before retirement. He was currently a self-employed farmer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Rhodes; and one sister, Lillie Mae Sutton.

He is survived by his wife, Eula Mae Rhodes of the home; one son, Dennis Rhodes and wife, Kathy; one daughter, Denise Rhodes and fiancee, Alan Bruton; three brothers, Ira Rhodes, Jesse Rhodes, and Bobby Rhodes; five sisters, Bertha Person, Mary Overby, Suzie Brock, Smithie Tobin, and Emogene Swinson; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Sunday at the Community Chapel in the Community Funeral Home of Warsaw, 1654 Highway 24/50 E., Warsaw. The Reverends James Kennedy and Debbie Browning will officiate. Visitation will follow at the Community Funeral Home. Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at the J.L. Rhodes Family Cemetery, 719 Bowdens Road, Kenansville.
