Virginia Yingling Elliott, 87, formerly of Camden, S.C., died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Sunny Slope Cemetery, King William County, VA, with the Rev. Dr. Norman West, officiating. Vincent Funeral Home, West Point is in charge of arrangements in Virginia.
Born April 19, 1918 in West Point, VA, she was the daughter of the late Roger Gregory and Columbia Virginia Yingling Brookes. She was the wife of Owen Bass Elliott, who died in 1998.
Mrs. Elliott was a member of Lyttleton Street Methodist Church, Camden and had attended Linwood Brethren Church, Md., with her daughter and family. In her earlier years she enjoyed family, social events, bridge, swimming, and cooking. In her later years she also enjoyed taking care of her yard and tending to the local birds. She had been a resident of Brookfield Manor Nursing Home, Middleburg, Md.
Surviving are one daughter, Diana Elliott Dixon and husband, Robert of New Windsor, Md.; one son, Owen Randolph Elliott and wife, Debbie B., of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Ryan and Randy Dixon of New Windsor, Stephen Elliott of Goldsboro and Natalie Laughlin and her children, Hayley and Nicholas Laughlin of Columbia, S.C.; one sister, Louisa B. Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Roger Gregory Brookes of West Point, Va.; and three nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William Knox Brookes.
