Robert L. Bland, 70, of 100 Davis St., died Monday at Sunbridge Care & Rehabilitation Center of Mt. Olive.

He was born in Wayne County to the late Luther and Mary Hare Bland and was married to Betty Anderson Bland. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bible Holiness Church in Faison.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Debbie Bland of California; three step-daughters, Wendy Bedsole of Dudley, Charlotte Warren of Dudley and Lynnette Stancil of Lucama; one brother, Benny Bland of Alabama; two sisters, Velma Jones of Mt. Olive and Esther Reid of California; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one step-son, Donald Turnage and one brother, George Bland.

The family will be receiving friends immediately following the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to the Bible Holiness Church, 507 Solomon St., Faison, N.C. 28341, or to Mount Olive Free Will Baptist Church, 210 W. Williamson St., Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.

Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home of Goldsboro is serving the family.
