JAMES P. KENNEDY

James Patrick Kennedy, 78, of 1410 Arrington Bridge Road, died Saturday in Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Born in Springfield, Mass., he was the son of the late Thomas J. and Mary Fitzgerald Kennedy, and was married to Gloria Taillefer Kennedy. A graduate of Cathedral High School in Springfield, he was also a graduate of The Maryknoll Seminary in Glen Ellen, Ill.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as Seaman First Class aboard the U.S.S. Macon. A member of St. Mary Catholic Church, he sang with the choir and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. While in Springfield, he was a member of the Lion's Club. Prior to retirement, he was a claims manager with Etna Insurance Company.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas P. Norris, OSFS, presiding. Internment will follow in the church columbarium.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Paul Kennedy of Murray, Ky.; a brother, Robert Kennedy of Springfield, Mass.; a sister, Ann Kennedy of Springfield, Mass.; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. is serving the family.
