ROSE HILL -- The funeral for Lillie Irean Newkirk Lee of Jacksonville, formerly of Rose Hill, will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Island Creek African Methodist Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Duplin Memorial Gardens, Teachey.
A native of Duplin County, Mrs. Lee was the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Nancy Johnson Newkirk and was the widow of Marvin Lee.
She is survived by four daughters, Alberta Hall of Beulaville, Evelyn Boney of Rose Hill, Irean Ellis of Jacksonville and Cathy Forte of Goldsboro; one sister, Sarah Ella Higgins of Goldsboro; and nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 6:30 until 8 at Matthews Funeral Chapel in Wallace.
