MOUNT OLIVE -- The funeral for Maxine Smith Brooks, 81, of 174 White Best Road, will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at Big Zion A.M.E. Zion Church. The Rev. William Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.
Mrs. Brooks died Monday at Sunbridge Nursing Center.
She is survived by one daughter, Charlene Faison of Dudley; one son, Jimmy Wayne Smith of Fuquay-Varina; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The viewing will be today from 3 until 7 p.m. at Garris Funeral Home, and the family will be present from 6 until 7 to receive friends.
