Louise Farfour Baddour, 90, died Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
She was married for 60 years to the late Goldsboro City Councilman, Philip A. Baddour Sr. She was born in Goldsboro on May 5, 1915, to the late George and Frieda Hakim Farfour. Mrs. Baddour worked, and later managed, Neil Joseph's Ladies Wear in Goldsboro for more than 20 years. She had also worked at Music and Sports in Goldsboro.
Mrs. Baddour was a life-long member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church. She was the first graduate of St. Mary Catholic School in 1928. Mrs. Baddour later volunteered at the school when her grandchildren were attending. She will be remembered by her family for her willingness to listen to others and for her wise and loving advice.
She was very proud that all four of her sons graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Mrs. Baddour is survived by her four sons, Philip A. Baddour Jr. and wife, Margaret; Richard A. Baddour and wife, Lynda; Stephen Baddour and Scott Hunter; and Neil J. Baddour and Barbara H. Baddour; grandchildren, Philip A. Baddour III and wife, Margaret West-brook; Mark L. Baddour; Helen S. Baddour; Richard A. Baddour Jr. and wife, Holly; David B. Baddour and wife, Carey; Jennifer Baddour Snead and husband, Kevin; Kristin L. Baddour; and Amy E. Baddour; great-grandchildren, Henry C. Baddour, Jack R. Baddour, Lauren B. Baddour, Philip Troy Baddour and Jonathan B. Baddour; her sister, Agnes F. Harris; and her brothers, John Allen Farfour and Edmund Farfour.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Leslie Farfour.
Affectionally known as "Sitti", Louise Baddour will always be remembered for her devotion to her family, friends, and church. She is well described by this quote from Sitti's Secret, a cookbook of her recipes published in her honor by her son, Neil. "Sitti's preparation of a meal is always a labor of love and not some dreaded chore. The relaxed atmosphere she creates can keep everyone at the table for hours eating, talking and laughing. Her lasting gift lies in bringing family and friends together and creating treasured memories. I hope you discover like I did that the secret to Sitti's wonderful meals is not in any ingredient or pan. The secret is in her heart".
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic School, 1000 N. Jefferson St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, or a charity of one's choice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Tom Norris O.S.F.S presiding. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.
A vigil prayer service will be 7 p.m. this evening at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the service. At other times, the family will be at her residence.
