OXFORD -- The funeral for Ruby B. Cottrell, 70, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford. The Rev. Valarie White will officiate. Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Cottrell died Wednesday at her residence in Evarts, Ky.

She was a native of Person County and was the daughter of the late Lillie Mae Bowling and daughter-in-law of the late Alice Cottrell. A homemaker and a member of Salem United Methodist Church, she was employed by the U.S. Air Force Commissary System while traveling as a career military spouse.

She is survived by her husband, John David Cottrell of the home; one daughter, Wanda Gail Greene of Smith, K.Y.; two grandchildren, Lora Taylor and Joanie Bolin; and four great-grandchildren, all of Evarts, Ky.; and one sister, Kathleen Baker of Person County.

The family will receive friends on Friday night from 7 until 8:30 at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home at 503 College Street in Oxford.
