Robert "Pee Wee" Eugene Thompson, Sr., 61, 2510 Hwy. 70 West, died Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Thompson operated a grocery store in Goldsboro for a number of years and was a tobacco grader for the United States Government during the tobacco season in Eastern North Carolina. He was a native of Wayne County and the son of the late Norwood Bright Thompson, Sr. and Eleanor Tilton Thompson. He was married to the late Catherine Louise "Kaye" Smith Thompson.
He is survived by a son, Robert E. Thompson Jr., and his and wife, Lora, of LaGrange; and two grandsons, Matthew Thompson and Michael Thompson.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery, with Adrian Tilton presiding.
The family requests no flowers.
Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
